<description>In the 80&#039;s we were told never to trust anyone who made less than 30,000 a year; do you remember this? Do you remember that it was seemingly cool to be a Republican affiliate because Alex P. Keaton was one. He was the rebel in his family that brought a voice of reason to their hippie ideals and mayhem. Conservatives denounced the New Coke and started buying the old formula, marketed directly to them, they even called it classic. It should have been called Conservative Coke. Sales would have went through the roof as we opened bottles, squaring the knots on our hand knit, square bottom ties. So, here we are, some 20 years later, and I have never felt so disenfranchised from my selected party as I have been in the last two months. This has been two years in the making, halfway through my first five years as an educator, an outsider in my field because I still, I still want to be Alex P. Keaton. This may not have the savvy arguments and citations that I have seen in other posts, but. . .I couldn&#039;t sit by any longer and read my friends getting raked across the coals for speaking their convictions. Silence in this forum is passive acceptance as it is in all others. I applaud Billy, Kelly, Kris, Jenny, and others as they have made their voices known. Now, I am making my known. On November 4th, I will be casting my ballot for Obama. . .hoooohah!
